The Project

Brazil calling the world

Brazil Calling is a movement that brings tattoo artists from abroad into Brazil's biggest tattoo convention, in São Paulo, at the end of the year.

The idea is simple and direct: put the Brazilian scene face to face with the international one. Trade style, technique and culture in the same hall — and document all of it with real film production.

01

International invitation

Hand-picked artists from all over the world invited to tattoo side by side with the Brazilian scene.

02

Film & photo coverage

A dedicated filmmaking team: portraits, backstage, aftermovie and content delivered ready for each artist's channels.

03

The Brazilian experience

More than a convention: culture, food, music and street. A real immersion in Brazil, inside and outside the event.

The Founder

Who is Monstrão

Caio Cruz, aka Monstrão, at the tattoo convention in São Paulo

Caio Cruz

Monstrão · Founder & host

Caio Cruz — everyone calls him Monstrão — is the head behind Brazil Calling. He is the one who invites the international artists, books the booths, designs the ten-day route and walks with the crew from the first day at the convention to the last night in Rio.

His work is built on the Brazilian street culture: lettering, heavy black, respect for the craft and for the people around it. Inside the scene he is known less for talking and more for making things happen — the studios, the crews and the artists all answer when he calls.

01

Tattoo artist

Born and raised in the Brazilian street scene, Caio built his name with heavy black work and lettering.

02

Host & connector

He connects studios, crews and artists from different countries and receives every guest personally.

03

Founder of Brazil Calling

The idea, the schedule and the whole experience come from him — Brazil shown from the inside, never as a tourist.

U.S. citizens traveling to Brazil

U.S. passport holders are required to obtain a visa before traveling to Brazil, but the process is relatively simple and can be done 100% online through the Brazilian e-Visa system.

Once approved, the e-Visa is sent to you by email. Download and print it, and keep it with your passport when boarding your flight and entering Brazil. Processing can take up to 10 business days, so don't leave it until the last minute — the official recommendation is to apply well in advance of your trip.

For U.S. citizens, the e-Visa is valid for 10 years, allows multiple entries, and can be used for short visits to Brazil, including tourism and business.

All official information, requirements and fees must be checked on the official e-Visa portal.
